Ulla Salzgeber to compete at VR Classics

06.01.2015

Neumünster – One person knew back in December what she would be doing from 12th - 15th February 2015: for dressage rider Ulla Salzgeber from Blonhofen, the VR Classics in Neumünster are firmly in the diary. Salzgeber, who has been Olympic team champion twice and also achieved third place in the 2011 World Cup, will be heading north in pursuit of points in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup. “I love this hall and this tournament,” says the dressage rider, “of course it’s a bit narrow and full, but the atmosphere and the spectators are just amazing.”

The Reem Acra FEI World Cup will be returning in February to the place it has for many years called home. The Dressage World Cup became an international tournament back in 1986 and, ever since then, Neumünster has been an integral part of the most important indoor series in equestrian sport.

Ulla Salzgeber also associates amusing memories with the VR Classics: “I rode in the World Cup there years ago, and I was sitting in the press conference when a little girl appeared amongst the journalists. The steward couldn’t hold her back. The little girl - who had sandy-coloured pigtails - made her way up to me and said: Ulla, I’m your biggest fan and I’d like an autograph. But not right now, I don’t want to disturb you.” She said her piece and then disappeared outside. That little girl was Finja Kraft, who many years later trained with Ulla Salzgeber and is now all grown up.

Ulla Salzgeber returned to the international arena just a few months ago, when her Rhenish gelding Herzruf’s Erbe came back from his nine month break in Hungary, fresh and raring to go. The duo won the Grand Prix at the International Frankfurt Festhallen Equestrian Tournament, before going on to secure victory in the Grand Prix Freestyle as well.

The Reem Acra World Cup in Neumünster begins on the Saturday morning with the Grand Prix de Dressage in the Madeleine Winter-Schulze Prize. All the World Cup candidates will compete in the Holstenhallen. The 15 best pairs will then have the chance to ride in the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle on the Sunday. This test has for many years been presented by the VR Bank Neumünster and the Bausparkasse Schwäbisch-Hall AG. You can follow the Reem Acra World Cup on FEI TV at www.feitv.org.

In addition to the big events, a small tour with an Intermediaire I and the Prix St. Georges will also be part of the dressage programme, as well as a national Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special.  Pure dressage, and tickets for all these events are available from the ticket hotline (04321) 755421, or can be ordered from the following email address: tickets@reitturnier.de.

From 11th February onwards, tickets for the VR Classics will be available directly from the Neumünster Holstenhallen. Tickets cost between 10 and 40 Euros, depending on the day and events. Season tickets are available from 100 Euros.
